MALAYSIA ASSOCIATION OF JAPANESE STUDIES

マレーシア日本研究協会

Malaysian Association of Japanese Studies (MAJAS) is a national association established to support the development of Japan studies in Malaysia. It serves as a link for Malaysian scholars on Japan studies scattered in the universities and other research institutions throughout the country. It was formed with an inaugural meeting on Saturday, March 21, 1998, held at the Japan Cultural Centre, Wisma Nusantara, Kuala Lumpur.

The formation of MAJAS is deeply indebted to the efforts of its co-founders, the late Professor Dr. Lee Poh Ping and Associate Professor Dr. Md Nasrudin Md. Akhir. Moreover, the formation of MAJAS would not have been possible without the financial assistance received from The Japan Foundation through the efforts of the Director-General at the time, Mr. Hirota Takao.
